Sialkot Stallions? coach upbeat about the Champions League T20 2012 ? Cricket News Update

Naved Anjum, the Sialkot Stallions? coach, is upbeat about the Champions League T20 2012 (CLT20), and hopes for a good show in the tournament.

The illustrious competition, which includes the domestic champions from all across the globe, is going to start tomorrow in South Africa, with Mumbai Indians looking to defend their title.

Sialkot?s participation in the tournament is of more importance because they are the first team from Pakistan to take part in the event, as the Indo-Pak sporting relations were at a halt since the Mumbai terror-attacks in 2008.

Anjum, who is a former Test cricketer, expressed that playing such a competitive tournament is going to be beneficial for the sport in Sialkot as well as for the country.

?It?s an honour to be coaching the first Pakistani team to take part in the Champions League. It?s fantastic for Sialkot and the whole of Pakistan and Pakistani cricket lovers,? said the former fast bowler while talking to Pakpassion.

The Stallions, led by the former Pakistan captain, Shoaib Malik, are a formidable unit, having won the domestic T20 championship multiple times. The team includes a number of stars like Imran Nazir, Raza Hasan and Rana Naved-ul-Hasan.

Anjum is optimistic about his team?s chances in the event, claiming that all the players are ready to take on the world?s best. Malik, Nazir and Raza took part in the just-finished ICC World T20 2012, helping Pakistan qualify for the event?s semi-final.

While commenting on the side?s chances in the glamorous tournament, the former cricketer from Lahore revealed that the boys worked extremely hard in the preparatory camp, which should reap rewards in the CLT20.

?Well our international players have had the benefit of course of featuring in the World T20 in Sri Lanka so they come into the Champions League with some competitive cricket behind them,? the Stallions? mentor expressed. ?The non international players have been practising in Lahore at a training camp for the past week where we have trained in the mornings then at night under lights at the Gaddafi Stadium.?

Sialkot will take on Auckland tomorrow in their opening match at Johannesburg.
