Lee Pace Confirmed Auditioning For Guardians Of The Galaxy, May Play Star-Lord

It?s refreshing to see an actor actually answer a question honestly and with enthusiasm. Actor Lee Pace (The Fall, TV?s Pushing Daisies) has confirmed that he will be auditioning for the role of Star-Lord in Marvel?s Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

While on the red carpet for the U.S. premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Lee Pace ? who plays the Elf warrior Thranduil in The Hobbit ? told MTV that he?s excited to audition and added the James Gunn script was ?great.? If picked for the Star-Lord role, Pace would have to commit to multiple movies for Marvel Studios including the inevitable Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and The Avengers 2. Watch his video response below?

James Gunn will write and direct Guardians of the Galaxy, due in theaters in August 2014. There?s not much known about the film, outside of the sci-fi comic book source material, but it would be a film that is part of Marvel?s Phase II galactic/space opera story arc featuring The Avengers and Ant Man.

Here?s a short description of Guardians of the Galaxy?

A U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants.

Lee Pace will be auditioning against a number of Hollywood and British actors including Joel Edgerton (Warrior), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas) and Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables). Pace also had a pretty good year in movies. He?s appeared in Steven Spielberg?s Lincoln, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and even the final Twilight movie Breaking Dawn ? Part 2. Lee Pace was most notably played the lead in Tarsem?s The Fall in 2006 and Bryan Fuller?s cult TV series Pushing Daisies from 2007 to 2009, and Fuller?s Wonderfalls in 2003.

Guardians of the Galaxy will open everywhere in theaters on August 1st 2014.
